Installation Workflow

Compatibility Note

BBOS 10 only supports Android apps up to Android 4.3 (API 18). Anything newer will fail to install or crash on launch.

Basic Install Flow

1. Download APKs directly to the device or transfer over USB
2. Enable “Allow installation from unknown sources” in Settings
3. Locate the APK with the file manager and install
4. Grant permissions on first launch

Maintenance Notes

• Keep local copies of APKs you know work.
• Avoid auto-updates; newer versions usually break compatibility.
• When an app crashes, try one version older.

Troubleshooting

If an app refuses to install, check the Android API target and confirm it is Android 4.3 (API 18) or lower. If it installs but crashes, downgrade one version and try again.
