Common Applications and Workflow
Scope and Expectations
This section documents what I use daily on my Blackberry Classic. These are not theoretical picks, every app below has been tested for stability and usability in my workflow.
If you use a different OS version, carrier build, or device model, your results may vary. That’s normal for BBOS 10.
Why These Apps Work
Blackberry OS 10 can run Android apps through its Android runtime, but only up to Android 4.3 (API 18). Most current Play Store releases will fail to install or crash on launch.
The fix is boring but effective: use archived APKs that target older Android versions.
Where I Source APKs
F-Droid Archive Repository
The F-Droid Archive Repository is the most reliable source I’ve found. It keeps older versions of open-source apps that still run on BBOS 10.
APKMirror
APKMirror lets you filter by Android version, which saves hours of trial and error.
My Daily Flow
Here is how my day looks on the Classic:
- Check RSS and email
- Review notes and tasks
- Chat via XMPP and bridge services
- Handle files and credentials
- Stream music while working
Sections
- Note Taking - Markdown and org-mode notes on BBOS 10.

Your Mileage May Vary
If you find better versions or other apps that work reliably, share them with the community. This section stays alive only if people feed it real results.
